Our Story
From a Handful of Kurtas……..
to a Celebration of Indian Craftsmanship Every journey begins somewhere. Ours began in 2015—with a few kurtas, a simple dream, and a deep love for Indian ethnic wear.
There was no factory. No warehouse. No large team.
Panjabipassions began with only a handful of carefully selected kurtas, sourced from different parts of West Bengal and brought to customers with the belief that beautiful craftsmanship, honest quality and personal attention would always be valued.
Every order mattered. Every customer mattered.
And slowly, those first few kurtas became the beginning of something much bigger.
From Sourcing to Creating……
As more customers discovered Panjabipassions and placed their trust in us, we began dreaming of creating something of our own.
That dream led us into manufacturing.
And that was when we discovered how much work truly lies behind a finished garment.
It began with searching for the right fabric. Then came measurements, tailoring, designing, colour combinations, patterns and embroidery. Every garment had to be carefully finished, checked and ironed before it was ready to face the camera.

Then came photography, pricing, cataloguing and registering each product.
At the same time, there were customer enquiries to answer, orders to pack, our Facebook page to manage, regular posts to create and a growing online presence to maintain.
Things that appear simple from the outside often involved hours of work behind the scenes.
There were long days, late nights, mistakes, lessons and moments when everything seemed overwhelming.
But then a customer would send us a photograph wearing one of our creations.
Someone would return to purchase another kurta.
Someone would recommend Panjabipassions to a friend.
And suddenly, every hour of hard work felt worthwhile.
Those moments kept us going.
Then Came a New Dream — Mekhela……
Years into our journey, Panjabipassions discovered another extraordinary expression of Indian textile heritage—the timeless elegance of the Mekhela.
What began as an exploration soon became a passion.
We did not want to simply purchase ready-made pieces and add them to our collection. We wanted to understand the fabrics, discover their origins and, wherever possible, reach closer to the people whose hands actually create them.
And so began our Mekhela journey.
From the Hands of the Weavers………
Some of the most beautiful fabrics do not begin in showrooms.
They begin at a loom.
They begin with threads carefully arranged by skilled hands, with techniques learned over years and, in many cases, knowledge handed down through generations.
Our search takes us closer to these sources.
We carefully explore and handpick Mekhelas, fabrics and textile elements from different parts of our country, seeking distinctive weaves, colours, borders, motifs and textures.
Wherever possible, we seek to procure directly from weavers, artisans and traditional sources, because knowing where a fabric comes from makes us appreciate it differently.
Behind a beautiful weave may be days of patient work.
Behind a motif may lie generations of tradition.
And behind every loom is a person whose skill deserves recognition.
For Panjabipassions, respecting those hands is an important part of respecting the garment itself.
Handpicked, Not Simply Selected…..
Our Mekhela collection is built through discovery.
We search through numerous pieces before selecting the ones that feel right for Panjabipassions. We examine the weave, texture, colour, border and overall character of each fabric.
Some pieces immediately catch our attention.
Others inspire us to search for another fabric that can complement them perfectly.
This is where our creative journey begins.
We thoughtfully bring together fabrics and textile elements sourced from different regions of India—experimenting with colours, textures and combinations while keeping the grace and identity of the Mekhela at the heart of every creation.
Every combination is chosen with a purpose.
Not simply because two fabrics look beautiful individually, but because together they can tell a new story.
Tradition, Reimagined with Respect…….
India’s textile traditions are extraordinarily diverse.
Travel from one region to another and the colours change. The motifs change. The weaving techniques change. The fabrics tell different stories.
Yet they are connected by something universal—the skill and dedication of the people who create them.
Our Mekhela journey allows us to bring some of these traditions together.
A fabric discovered in one part of India may find its perfect companion in a weave sourced hundreds of kilometres away. A traditional colour may be presented through a fresh combination. A classic design may inspire something contemporary without losing its cultural character.
That balance matters deeply to us.
We do not believe modernity should erase tradition.
We believe tradition can evolve, inspire and remain beautifully relevant.
More Than a Garment…..
When a Panjabipassions Mekhela finally reaches its wearer, its journey has already been a long one.
It may have begun with a weaver sitting before a loom.
It travelled through the hands of artisans and suppliers, through our search and selection process, through countless discussions over combinations and designs, and finally through finishing, photography, cataloguing and careful packing.
Then it reaches you.
And only then does the journey become complete.
Because ultimately, a beautiful garment finds its true meaning when someone wears it, celebrates in it and creates memories in it.
The Journey Continues…..
From a handful of kurtas in 2015 to designing and manufacturing our own collections…
From discovering fabrics across West Bengal to exploring weaving traditions across India…
From our first customer to the many people who have trusted Panjabipassions over the years…
The journey has been extraordinary.
But we believe we are still only writing the early chapters.
There are more weavers to discover.
More traditions to explore.
More fabrics to handpick.
More combinations to imagine.
And many more stories waiting to be woven.
Through it all, the values with which Panjabipassions began remain unchanged –
* Choose with care.
* Create with sincerity.
* Respect craftsmanship.
* Celebrate tradition.
* Value every customer.
To everyone who has purchased from us, returned to us, recommended us, encouraged us or simply admired our work—
Thank you for being part of the Panjabipassions story.
We look forward to continuing this journey with you—
One weave. One creation. One story at a time.
